Dragon Boat Festival 2026 – The annual Dragon Boat racing tournament returns
Sunday 28th June 2026
On 28th June, taking place on Baltic Wharf close to the Cottage Inn, The Dragon Boat Festival is a full day’s event with up to 36 teams competing in heats, semi-finals and a grand final.
Organised by Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club, business and community groups come together in a racing tournament in Bristol’s Floating Harbour, all to raise money for chosen charities both nationwide and based in the South West.
Underfall Yard is a fantastic location to watch the teams race all day long! Grab a drink from our cafe and take a seat on our Knuckle to secure a perfect view down the Harbour to spot some amazingly dressed competitors!

Steam Boat School – Enjoy a wonderful introduction to the world of steamboating!
Thursday 16th July 2026
Organised by The Steam Boat Association of Great Britain, this is an event to introduce you to the wonderful hobby of Steamboating. Even if you have no ‘steamy’ knowledge, you will be welcome to join us for a fun, easy going day of gentle learning and practical experience.
The day will be centred at Underfall Yard and include a safety briefing, an introductory talk, a look at several different sorts of steamboats (no two steamboats are alike!), a slap-up lunch and then actual trips around the harbour in live steamboat(s). With Bristol Harbour Festival starting the next day, it’s a perfect way to get involved with the city’s maritime roots.
Find out more and book your slot by visiting their event page.
Yard Fest 2026
17th to 19th July 2026
10 Years of Yard Fest: Underfall Yard’s flagship summer festival – and we are planning our biggest celebration yet! Since 2016, Underfall Yard has gotten involved with the festivities along the harbour in July. Now, for the first time, we’ve been made an official location of Bristol Harbour Festival, as well as this year’s charity partner.
Live music, raving DJ sets and fantastic street food!
Alongside the returning Sonic Sounds to provide the best from everything disco, funk, dub and more, we now have a fantastic line-up of live music. Enjoy stripped back performances from bands, acoustic sets from solo artists and wonderful harmonies from a cappella groups and choirs.
Make sure to get yourself some great food and drink while you listen! Underfall Cafe will be open with great breakfast and lunch options, along with tasty tacos from Pura Vida and amazing crepes from The Lush Creperie. We are also supported by Bristol Beer Factory during the weekend, thanks to their Brewed 2 Give scheme.
Discover over 200 years of harbour history
The Floating Harbour would not exist without Underfall Yard. For over 200 years, we have been the main location in the city of maritime skills and traditional boatbuilding, and during Yard Fest, you can join us and find out just how important our unique harbour is to the success of the city.
Visit our Victorian-era workshops, where machinery built in the 1880s is still in use today. Learn about our hydraulic accumulator, which powered the cranes, bridges and lockgates up until 2010. You may even see some boatbuilding being done by one of our tenants!
A front row seat to Baltic Wharf!
Bristol Harbour Festival is bringing the entertainment all the way up the Floating Harbour, and Underfall Yard is the perfect platform to see it all. Baltic Wharf is the place to be for a range of Have-A-Go sessions from All Aboard Watersports, SUP Bristol, and our good friends and tenants, Bristol Gig Club. Get out on the water during the weekend, or watch all the action from our outdoor terrace overlooking the water.
The perfect location for the western side of the harbour
Based only a five-minute walk from Cumberland Basin and The Baltic Wharf Water Arena, Underfall Yard is the best landmark for discovering all the events and activities happening on the water with a view of the Suspension Bridge.
The Baltic Wharf Arena is a new addition to Bristol Harbour Festival, and will host a range of regattas and Red Bull’s very own ‘Up The Mast’ contest. If you’re the type of person who strives for a bit more sporting competition, Cumberland Basin is the home of the Canoe Polo tournament on Sunday.
The Bristol Sea Shanty Shout 2026
19th – 20th September 2026
Have your eye-patches and hook hands at the ready! We are once again partnering with the High and Dry Shanty Crew for The Bristol Sea Shanty Shout 2026!
Last year’s event marked a major change for the event: Based at our boatyard, as well as SS Great Britain, with a ticket concert by our Visitor Centre in the evening, and it was a fantastic success! We can’t wait to do it all over again with dozens of performances from shanty crews taking place across two days, giving all you pirate fans the best weekend for celebrating the story and tall tales of famous Bristol sailors!
More details will be revealed closer to the date. In the meantime, take a look at the official website
