Buy a boat! Save the yard!
Morwen has been generously donated to Underfall Yard Trust to support the Recovery Fund. Proceeds from the sale will go towards rebuilding the Big Shed to bring back the boatyard we know and love.
Morwen is a classic wooden motor cruiser built in 1965 at Conwy for the boatyard owner, for use on the North Welsh coast. Propelled by original twin Perkins 4107 diesel engines, her cruising speed is seven knots. The most recent owner, who bought her following a satisfactory survey in 2011, has commissioned extensive, fully documented work throughout. It includes reconstruction of the transom, stripping and full examination of the hull, with limited remedial work, and restoration of the starboard engine, including a reconditioned gearbox. The boat was completely rewired in 2021. New covers for the complete deck house. At the moment, she needs refinishing on the outside.
Length overall is 32 feet 2 inches (9.8 metres). Beam 10’7” (3.23m). Draught 3’5” (1.04m). Air draught (mast down) 2.5m. Fuel capacity 100 gallons (450 litres). Water capacity 75 gallons (300 litres). Three automatic bilge pumps, one manual. Batteries are separated for navigation and leisure. Icom VHF radio. Garmin Echomap75sv and fish finder. Searchlight, compass, clock and barometer. Boarding ladder and ensign. Modern fridge and gas cooker. Extensive historical documents, handbooks and photographs are available to view.
